Sigma Iota Sigma Multicultural Sorority, Inc. is committed to fighting against the violence and abuse of women and children on a global scale. Our goal is to provide a support system to women and children who are survivors of abuse, while also educating other women about how to protect themselves from domestic violence and abuse.
Annually, our SISters volunteer their time to community service activities and events throughout New York State. We have contributed thousands of hours of service to soup kitchens, domestic violence shelters and national philanthropic organizations since our founding in 1994.
Our chapters have established alliances with organizations such as Cornerstone Manor, Prevent Child Abuse and Break the Cycle and contribute the majority of our hours of service to these organizations annually. The following is a list of community organizations and activities to which our SISters have dedicated their service:
- Habitat for Humanity
- City Mission
- Adopt-a-Highway
- Vive La Casa
- Take Back the Night
- March of Dimes
- Equinox
- Linda Yalem Run
- Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
- Junior Achievement
- National Multiple Sclerosis Society
